Geli loves her life today, even though it is very different from what she had imagined it would be. For over 20 years, she has been living with her best friend André on a farm in Rottal-Inn in Lower Bavaria. It is a typical rural idyll and a couple with a classic division of roles – at least at first glance.
In 1969, Geli was born in Buch in the municipality of Julbach, the youngest of three siblings. Her childhood was marked by cramped living conditions, dominated by her father, uncle, and grandfather. When Geli married in her late 20s, her conventional dream of marriage, home ownership, and children seemed within reach. But happiness is deceptive. On New Year's Eve 1998, Geli separated from her husband and moved in with her then-colleague Yvonne. It all began without any ulterior motives, but the relationship with Yvonne quickly developed into more than just friendship. The two built their own unconventional life of happiness—and continue to share it to this day.
